Traditional Retailer:
- Serve to existing customers or who so ever enter by chance. They don’t invest much in brand awareness activities.
- Traditional Retailer believes in showing product by personally one by one. They did not give much access to browse personally. This practice is good for those customers who are not smart enough to take quick decision and does not have much clarity on what they exactly want. This strategy is helpful for those customers who need personal touch and assistance.
- They are more successful to make loyal customers & Serving repeated customers which are easing for business conversion.
- Product Quality & fit is not standard as per brand positioning, the reason behind products is to pick & choose from different suppliers. No standard QA processes are aligned.
- Whole merchandise does not have a specific DNA which can create a brand image in the customer's mind. They Offer Mix of Everything.
Modern Retailer:
- These retailers serve existing customers and keep on hunting for new customers. Company Does ATL or BTL marketing as per there budget.
- They keep the customer database and keep on updating customers for new products & promotions.
- Brands are focusing on Digital marketing. New developed products are uploaded on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest to make and add new followers for better people reach and increasing brand awareness.
- Such retailers Play video of season’s collection at LCD within the store for better conversion.
- They make collection Theme wise and create visual appeal inside the store. Displaying collection colour & theme-wise inside the store so that the customer can choose from offered multiple options.
- Associating with some renowned designers & launching designer labels under the price bracket of the retailer's customer profile.
- Customer needs full services to buy end products. The customer does not have time and energy to invest at something where the customer is not confident about the end result. They wish to try the product and walk out of the store with full confidence.
- Customer wishes to buy an exclusive product which should reflect brands DNA. Product Quality & fit are standard as per brand positioning to buy online as well without any doubt. Complete technical teamwork behind the aim of giving standard experience to the customer.
- The study routine customer need, for which customer will repeatedly visit the brand to buy merchandise regularly.
- Products are designed as per market trends and marketed with some special features by assuring customer sustainability and comfort.
- If the brand is upmarket & catering Upper middle class or higher class then natural products & aspect of recycling is majorly taken care. The responsibility of protecting the traditional textile industry is also taken care of. India is rich in culture and we have a huge variety of textile products of each state and culture. They provide authentic products for which customers become loyal customers. They have a social responsibility to give employment to Artisans and preserve traditional art.

ReplyDeleteModern retailer is usually MBO and tax payer. Modern retailer is ofcourse product and service oriented due to big format their can be no personal touch or miss some touch points. Traditional stores are also evolving to modern trade and doing awesome.
